The Poem The Last Bargain is written by Famous and eminent Bengali Poet Rabindranath Tagore. It is a poem about a man who is searching for a job in which he does not want to lose his freedom.

One day, He receives a proposal from the King where the king offers him power in return for some labor. But the man rejects his proposal and again went on the quest for the job.

He receives the second proposal from a rich and well-off man. That man offers him lots of gold and precious gems in return for labor. But again the man rejects his offer. Now comes a beautiful girl who offers him her smiles in return for labor.

The speaker of the poem refuses her offer too. At the end of the poem, he finds a child playing on the seashore and offers him nothing in return for his services. The speaker of the poem was very happy as he can be free.

More than that he would be bound by this bargain. It did not satisfy him and therefore, he turned it down.
