Sub: -Poor maintenance of Public Park.
Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I want to draw the attention of the authorities concerned about the poor maintenance of a public park in our area. Public parks are the lungs of the localities where residents come and refresh their tired and fatigued minds. But in our colony, the park is not well maintained or say not at all maintained.
It suffers from the utter neglect of the authorities. The residents of nearby Basti are using the area as a public convenience. Many rowdies create disturbance and do not help in the upkeep of the park has become the favorite halting-place of stray cattle and dogs. Miscreants sit and gamble here in the broad daylight.
They, in reality, the park has become a hub of activity for all types of evil characters. If no immediate action is not taken, the park will turn into a devil’s den and would become a being cause of nuisance for the colony.
I hope the authorities concerned will take immediate steps in the matter.

Sir,
Sub- Providing bus stops nearby the colony.
Through the esteemed columns of your prestigious newspapers, I would like to draw
the attention of the Government towards the problem of the lack of a bus stop in the area near Mayur Vihar Aparna Apartments.
These apartments are spread up to a radius of at least 4 km and are situated on the main road of Mayur Vihar. One can notice that buses run on the main road for all places in Delhi/New Delhi every five minutes.
But it is rather strange to note that the Government has not provided enough bus stops to cover all the apartments and colonies, on the road. The residents have to walk more than 2 km to catch a local bus. The hiring of a rickshaw or a three-wheeler is very costly for a common man. The chilly or the hot rough weather other puts the passengers in a great problem. This also wastes the time, energy, and stamina of the residents. For lady passengers, it is not advisable to walk long distances from a safety point of view.
No financial burden will be passed on to the government by making more bus stops keeping in view the necessity and the convenience of the residents. Being a fully residential area, it is necessary to provide bus stops at all the appropriate points in this area.
I hope the authorities would definitely consider our difficulty and provide enough bus stops for the convenience of the passengers. It will provide relief to all of us as moving long distances of about 2 km in winter and hot sun is very troublesome and tiresome.
Yours truly

Sir,
Sub Provision for street lights on the road.
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I want to draw the attention of the
authorities are concerned about the provision of street lights on the main road leading to Indira Nagar. I want to apprise you that Indira Nagar is a posh colony of JDA with more than 1500 flats on both sides of the road.
The electricity board has installed poles on either side of the road to supply light to the residents, but just poles are not the electricity. The civic authority is lacking in providing basic amenities to the residents. During these days of winter, after seven, it is pitch dark.
In addition to accidents, cases of thefts and robberies can also not be ruled out. Darkness may lead to any kind of mishappening. It may also be stated that many residents return to their homes at late hours the night. The residents pay house tax to the Municipality regularly but facilities of street lights are denied to them.
The matter was taken up with the authorities time and again; every time mere assurances were given but the problem persists in the same way as it was. I hope that if the letter is published in your esteemed newspaper, the authorities shall be awakened from their slumber, and the problem will be finally solved.

Sir,
Sub Nuisance of beggars.
I shall be thankful if you publish this letter in the columns of your esteemed newspaper. I would like to draw the attention of local authorities to the increasing nuisance of beggars in our city.
Nowadays, the number of beggars has abruptly increased. Everywhere in the city markets, parks outside a restaurant, or even in the streets you will find such obstinate beggars. The pity is that most of them are physically fit but begging is their profession. Some of them might be involved in other offenses also.
Some of the beggars suffer from highly infectious diseases such as leprosy, TB, etc. it is necessary that those such cases be taken care of and treated in General Hospital, and other able-bodied beggars are taken to task. Either they should do the given jobs or they must be punished by the Government, and they should not be allowed to make begging their profession.
I am sure, the authorities will positively take care of this increasing nuisance of beggars, at the earliest.
Yours truly

5. Letter to Editor Example “Write a letter to the Editor stressing the need for a planned family.”
Prem Basti,

To
The Editor,
The Indian Express,
Chandigarh.
Sir,
Please permit me to point out the need for a planned family in Free India. I shall feel grateful if you kindly publish my views in the columns of your esteemed paper.
Family Planning is the greatest need in India. After China, India is the largest populated
country in the world. Like other developing counties, India too faces problems of unemployment, poverty, and ignorance. The increasing number is the root cause of all these problems confronting the country.
This growing number has become a matter of great anxiety both for the planner and for the national leaders. A small family is a boon whereas a big family a curse. Family welfare leads to the welfare of the country. We should have children by choice and not by chance. The desire to beget a male child leads the parents into a jigsaw. The time is not far when they will have to be content with one child whether male or female.
Scientific methods, such as the use of contraceptives, vasectomy, etc. to keep the population under control are known to everybody. T.V., radio, and newspapers carry on propaganda for family planning voluntary organizations which can best hit the target. Mahatma Gandhi advised self-control. Late marriage is another remedy suggested by some. The fact remains that the increasing numbers must be checked otherwise the writing on the wall is very much clear.
I hope you will give wide publicity to these views of mine.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
Balkar Singh.
2. Complaint Letters
1. Letter to Municipal Corporation of your city complaining about the miserable condition of roads in your locality.

The Commissioner,
Municipal Corporation of Delhi,
Delhi
Sir,
I would like to bring to your kind notice the miserable condition of roads in my locality, Lajpat Nagar, Near Sabzi Mandi, Delhi. The roads are broken in many places. As a result, vehicles cannot move smoothly. The buses, trucks, cars, and three-wheelers, have to halt after every five to six seconds just to adjust to the road breaks and pits. It has been repeatedly brought to the notice of PWD, but all in vain.
There is always a traffic problem on the roads. The first showers of the monsoon will put the things in their worst shape. The residents are in deep distress on this account and they have repeatedly expressed their resentment through the press as well as through written complaints but nothing has so far been done.
People had also staged a demonstration last month and the authorities assured them of necessary action in the matter, but so far, all the assurances have remained mere assurances. I request you to get the roads repaired and constructed without any further delay lest the anger of the public should explode.
Yours sincerely
Hira Lal

Sir,
Sub- Nuisance was caused by the loudspeakers during the examination days.
I beg to draw your kind attention to the problem of nuisance being caused by the loudspeaker during these days when the examination period is going on. These days students are preparing for the ensuing examinations, and the loud noise of loudspeakers
is causing a lot of problems for the students nowadays. Every year a prohibitory order is issued for banning the use of loudspeakers during the days, but this year no such action has been taken so far.
I request you to ban the use of loudspeakers totally for a period of two months so that the students can prepare well for the ensuing examination.
Thanking you!

Dear Sir,
Sub- Removal of dead buffalo from our colony.
I regret to bring to your kind notice that a dead buffalo has been lying in our residential colony for the last two days. I lodged a complaint yesterday to your office but it has been of no avail.
A very bad smell is being emitted from the dead body making the environment of the colony full of bad odor. We are almost sick due to such an odor and are unable to breathe properly.
You are requested to get the body of the buffalo removed from the colony immediately and the official who didn’t take action in time must be suitably instructed in the future.

4. Letter of complaint to the Electricity Department for excess billing.

The Executive Engineer
Electricity Department
Dear Sir,
Reg Consumer no.: 813/69-bill for Rs. 18300/-
I am quite shocked to receive the electricity bill of Rs. 18300/- for my house for the last two months. It is just not possible to have used so much electricity in the last two months as I was out of the station with my family for twenty days and the house was locked.
There seems to be a mistake in the reading for the last month; it is mentioned as 19328 instead of 20328 as the final reading of the last month. As such, there is a mistake of 1000 units in the bill.
Please rectify this mistake so that I can pay the actual amount.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Yours faithfully,
Parkash Chand
