Once the lawyer decided to search for Lutkins and to rent Bill’s hack. Bill tried to manipulate him and made him visit different places. Bill goes ahead and inquired about Lutkins. Soon, they both went to Fritz’s shop where they got the information that he plays poker there.
Gustaff told them that he had gone shaving and after some time he was told that he had gone to the pool. Both of them went as told but could not find him. In the afternoon, Bill asked the lawyer to buy him some food from his wife. They had their afternoon meal on Wade’s hill which is a beautiful place.
By now the lawyer was convinced that Bill was a very humble and kind-hearted man. He compared city people and village people. After that, they went to Lutkin’s Mother’s house and found that she was a horrible lady and was close to setting upon them with an iron rod.
At last, Bill dropped the idea of serving to summon to Lutkin’s and was scolded by his Chief the next day. He was again sent to New Mullion with a colleague who knew Lutkins. After reaching the station, the lawyer introduced Bill as he helped him a lot in searching for him.
At this point, he was told that he was none other than Oliver Lutkins. The lawyer felt ashamed that he was not able to recognize and was fooled easily by the hack driver.
