Modals Class 10th: Introduction
Modal Auxiliaries that express the mode of the action denoted by the main verbs are called Modals. Modal verbs, also called modal auxiliary verbs, are like auxiliary verbs combined with lexical verbs. Lexical verbs are action verbs, as well as linking verbs
Lexical verbs are of two kinds:

Features of Modals:
- Modals always express imaginary actions likeability, power, permission, request, possibility, willingness, certainty, right and wrong, necessity, etc.
- Modals do not come alone; they always take the 1st form of the verb.
- Modals are never affected by the subject’s person, number, and gender.
